Group buys
Order in bulk together, without the spreadsheet
For food co-ops, buying clubs, parent groups, makers buying supplies and communities importing goods from abroad. Members add what they want to a round before it closes. You get the totals to order from each supplier, everyone pays their own share, shipping is split by weight to the cent, and pickup day runs from one checklist.

What you get
From the product list to the last bag handed over
Group buys are part of Kommune's Marketplace. Turn them on and organizers get a product library, rounds with deadlines and a step-by-step page for everything that happens after ordering closes.
- A product library you set up once
- Each product has a size, a description, photos, up to three videos, a price per piece and a weight, plus a row per variety or colour with its own code and price. Import your supplier's list from a Google Sheet or a CSV, keep supplier contacts and your shipping prices, and write the rules everyone accepts before ordering.
- Rounds with a deadline and a minimum
- Pick products from the library, set when ordering closes and, if you like, a per-person limit or your own round price. Each shipment has a minimum weight, and everyone sees live how close the order is to it. Rounds open and close by themselves, with a reminder the day before.
- Ordering that members understand
- Members tap + and − for each variety and see their total, weight and estimated share of shipping as they go. They can change or cancel until the deadline. Turn on approval to check each order first, or add an order for someone who sent it by message.
- One order per supplier, ready to send
- When ordering closes, Kommune adds up every product and variety per supplier at the supplier's own price, as a PDF and a spreadsheet, or emails it straight to the supplier. Add tracking numbers, mark it ordered and everyone is told.
- Everyone pays their own share
- Each person gets a payment request for their products, then one for their share of shipping once the delivery is weighed, split by weight to the cent. They pay by card or e-Transfer, and you see who has paid. Prices from a supplier abroad are converted at the Bank of Canada rate plus your margin, or a rate you fix.
- Pickup day, problems and cancellations
- The Handout page lists each person with their items, a packing list and labels to print, and holds anyone who hasn't paid. Members report a problem with photos and an unboxing video, and you refund or answer it. Cancelling a round refunds card payments and lists what to return by hand.
How it works
Your first round in an afternoon
- 1
Build your product list
Turn on group buys under Settings → Marketplace, add your suppliers and shipping prices, then add products or import them from a spreadsheet.
- 2
Open a round
Pick the products, set the closing date and the minimum weight, and open it. Members are told it's open and reminded before it closes.
- 3
Order, collect, hand out
When it closes, send the supplier orders and payment requests, enter the weights to bill shipping, and tick people off on pickup day.
